Paper is attractive and adds value to the products
Paper packaging appeals to shoppers and consumers both at the point of sale and the point of consumption.
European consumers prefer paper, showed the PaperImpact Consumer study, where almost 8000 European consumers were interviewed. The amazing 93 % of European consumers chose paper as their preferred packaging material. The most valued arguments for paper were: Paper is sustainable & environmentally friendly, convenient, appealing and it adds value to the product. Consumers like paper because it its pleasant to touch and easy to use. Opening and reclosing are easy and paper also tears only as far as one wants it to = 'controlled tear' . A good example, where paper labels are really felt of adding value is the category of luxury beverages like champagne, whisky and grand wines. The consumer could not imagine of buying a champagne bottle with a plastic label to a memorable occation.
